Candidate Kim Jaeyeon "Will Focus on Progressive Unity and Candidate Unification"
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] Kim Jae-yeon, the Progressive Party's presidential candidate, reiterated on the 17th, "I will put all my efforts into progressive unity to overcome the old system of the entrenched conservative two-party establishment in this election."
On the same day, Candidate Kim met with Yang Kyung-soo, chairman of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU), at the Progressive Party central office in the morning and said, "I once again pledge to dedicate myself to progressive unity so that workers and the people can have hope."
He stated, "The Progressive Party will overcome the old system of the entrenched conservative two-party establishment in this election," adding, "In this presidential election, I will do my best so that the 1.1 million KCTU members and all working people can once again have expectations and hope for progressive politics."
The Progressive Party explained that since the launch of the joint presidential election response organization in September with the five progressive parties?Justice Party, Labor Party, Green Party, Socialist Revolutionary Workers' Party?and the KCTU, discussions on 'progressive candidate unification' are now being actively conducted.

In his remarks, Yang Kyung-soo, chairman of the KCTU, said, "Yesterday, through the Central Executive Committee, the KCTU unusually adopted a resolution on the agreement for progressive camp candidate unification, bearing the names of 16 industrial federations and 16 regional headquarters leaders representing each constituent," adding, "I believe that progressive unity will become a very solid foundation for progressive politics to take root and grow in Korean society, and we will fulfill that role."
