[Asia Economy Reporter Donghoon Jeong] Ki Sung-yong (32, FC Seoul), a former national soccer team player accused of sexual assault in the past, is set to undergo a confrontation investigation with the accusers who raised the allegations.
According to the police on the 17th, the Seoul Seocho Police Station will conduct a confrontation investigation this afternoon between Ki and Mr. A, who filed a defamation complaint against him. This meeting comes about nine months after Ki filed a complaint against two accusers who raised sexual assault allegations against him.
A police official stated, "We cannot confirm the schedule for the confrontation investigation," but added, "Ki's investigation is scheduled for this afternoon."
Earlier in February, Mr. A and another person revealed that they were sexually assaulted by seniors Ki Sung-yong and Mr. B from January to June 2000 while playing on a soccer team at an elementary school in Jeonnam.
In response, Ki Sung-yong filed a defamation complaint against them with the police in March and also filed a lawsuit seeking 500 million won in damages.
