View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-su] On the 16th (local time), Minister Lim Hye-sook of the Ministry of Science and ICT attended the '2021 Korea-US Science and Technology Academic Conference (UKC 2021)' held in Los Angeles, USA, and appealed to Korean-American scientists to contribute to Korea-US science and technology cooperation.
In her opening congratulatory speech, Minister Lim said, "I am grateful for the efforts and contributions of Korean-American scientists who have played a major role in Korea's rise as a leading country in science and technology," and added, "To promote the shared security and prosperity of Korea and the United States, we will strengthen cooperation in advanced strategic technology fields such as space, quantum, and bio, and the role of each Korean-American scientist is very important."
Minister Lim also introduced the Korean government's communication efforts with the public regarding quarantine and vaccination during the COVID-19 response process, emphasizing the need for scientists to continue efforts to enhance public understanding on more issues in the future.

Meeting with overseas young scientists, Minister Lim explained, "We have expanded customized support policies throughout the entire cycle, including attracting investment and overseas expansion, to promote the influx of excellent talent into science and engineering fields and to enable startup and venture entrepreneurs to continuously challenge the global stage, and we will continue to provide support without hesitation." In particular, she stated, "We will actively promote the overseas advancement and global network formation of domestic young scientists and entrepreneurs in connection with overseas Korean scientist associations in Europe, Canada, and Asia, including the Korean-American Scientists and Engineers Association."
