Busan City announced on the 17th that it has signed a business agreement with LG Electronics, and LG robots will carry out promotional activities for the World Expo inside Busan City Hall.
The ‘LG CLOi guide robot’ is a second-generation model developed by LG Electronics for facility guidance and signage advertising.
The robot is equipped with 27-inch displays on the front and back. It recognizes obstacles with 15 sensors and is capable of autonomous driving, simple Q&A, and serving as a photo model.
Since its pilot operation at the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics, it has been introduced at major institutions and hotels nationwide, including Incheon Airport, Seoul National University Hospital, and Korea Racing Authority. Among local governments, Busan City is the first to adopt it.
The city decided to introduce the robot with a concept suitable for the 2030 Busan World Expo theme, “The Great Transformation of the World, Sailing Toward a Better Future,” and the subtitle “Technology for Humanity.”
The city plans to operate the robot in the first-floor lobby of City Hall to promote the 2030 Busan World Expo. LG is a company participating as the vice chairman of the government bid committee.
LG will provide the LG robot, the robot from the Korea Pavilion at the Dubai Expo, and a 43-inch display called One Quick. It is also promoting collaboration with other companies for publicity.
