Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority Signs 11th Consecutive Year of Dispute-Free Wage Agreement
Wage Agreement Signed Without Labor-Management Conflict, Introduction of Selective Working Hours System
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (President Cha Min-sik) announced on the 16th that it has signed the 2021 wage agreement with the Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority Labor Union (Chairman Nam Cheol-hee) and agreed to introduce a selective working hours system to strengthen work-family balance.
As a result of strengthening labor-management cooperation by operating a year-round labor-management task force for labor-management relationship innovation and frequently consulting on the overall management system, the authority and the labor union achieved an 11th consecutive year of wage agreements without disputes through wage increases in compliance with government guidelines.
Additionally, after discussing ways to pursue work efficiency and life harmony, labor and management agreed to introduce the selective working hours system.
The selective working hours system is a system where the total working hours are set within a certain period (within one month), and workers autonomously decide their daily working hours by adjusting the start and end times of work.
President Cha Min-sik of the authority said, “Despite the difficult conditions due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, labor and management cooperated to reach an agreement without conflict,” and added, “Labor and management will continue to do their best for the development of Yeosu Gwangyang Port based on family-friendly management.”
