The 2030 Ulsan 3D Printing Roadmap is composed of a vision to become the ‘largest domestic 3D printing industry central city leading manufacturing innovation,’ with three major strategies, six core tasks, and 23 action tasks.
The six core tasks include establishing a 3D printing cluster, building a technology support collaboration platform, developing core technologies by industry, spreading technological excellence, supporting enterprise growth, and fostering specialized human resources.
The main action tasks consist of building a platform centered on the 3D printing convergence technology center, developing 10 core technologies in sectors such as automobiles, shipbuilding, and energy, hosting exhibitions and competitions to widely promote technological excellence, developing a 3D printing special zone, and establishing a human resources training center.
The city budget to be invested by 2030 amounts to 33.7 billion KRW. The expected effects of the project include sales of 1.453 trillion KRW and the creation of about 700 jobs.
A total of 10.6 billion KRW has been secured for the 3D printing convergence technology center construction project, the core of the 3D printing business, including 5.1 billion KRW in national funds and 5.5 billion KRW in city funds, with the project set to be fully launched next year.
Additionally, 8.3 billion KRW in investment has been attracted due to the commercialization of 3D printing, and a joint project between universities and companies for developing 3D printing materials and components technology was selected, securing 6.6 billion KRW in national funds.
The project is gaining momentum as technologies developed by research institutes and companies are adopted and commercialized by manufacturing companies such as Hyundai Heavy Industries and Hyundai Motor Company.
