[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family selected 19 companies and institutions as family-friendly excellent companies and institutions in 2021.
On the 16th, the Ministry held the '2021 Family-Friendly Excellent Companies and Institutions Award and Certification Ceremony' at 3 p.m. in the International Conference Room of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The four companies receiving the Presidential Citation are Hanwha Claims Service Co., Ltd., Dongyang I-Tech, Korea Post Business Promotion Agency, and Gwanak-gu, Seoul.
Hanwha Claims Service has introduced and operates a childcare leave system where men can use up to 30 days, with 10 days mandatory, upon the birth of a child, and a system to rehire employees who retired due to marriage or childcare in a reduced working hours format.
Dongyang I-Tech, a small and medium-sized enterprise, created a family-friendly workplace atmosphere by implementing a reduced working hours system during childcare periods, an early leave system on the last Wednesday of every month, and operating a family participation weekend farm program.
Korea Post Business Promotion Agency reduced overtime work and actively implemented a flexible working system while fostering a family-friendly organizational culture through experiences such as 'role swapping for a day.' Gwanak-gu created a work environment where employees can care for their children while working by extending the operation of workplace daycare centers and encouraging paternity leave.
The number of family-friendly certified companies increased to 4,918 this year. Among them, small and medium-sized enterprises account for 3,317 (67.4%), large companies 520 (10.6%), and public institutions 1,081 (22.0%).
The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family is expanding support such as incentives, consultations, and self-inspection systems to enhance the effectiveness and reliability of the certification system. During the certification validity period, it inspects whether laws have been violated or social controversies have occurred, and depending on the severity of violations, it recommends improvements or cancels certifications, strengthening post-management.
