'The 1st Gwangju National Swimming Championships' Canceled Due to COVID-19 Impact
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 15th that it has canceled the ‘1st Gwangju National Swimming Championships and Gwangju National Masters Swimming Competition’ scheduled for this year to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Gwangju City had originally planned to hold the two competitions from the 18th to the 24th at the Nambu University Municipal International Swimming Pool.
However, considering the recent continuous increase of over 5,000 nationwide COVID-19 confirmed cases and the fact that about 40% of the participants reside in the Seoul metropolitan area, the city decided to cancel the competitions in consultation with the Korea Swimming Federation for the health and safety of its citizens.
