"Strong Social Distancing Needed... Prompt Financial Support for Small Business Owners Also Required"
Emergency COVID-19 Party-Government Meeting on the 15th
Yun Ho-jung: "This is the last critical phase of the COVID crisis... Apologies, but we ask for cooperation in quarantine again"
Comprehensive support needed for affected small business owners... Emphasizing the principle of advance support and compensation
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] The Democratic Party of Korea emphasized on the 15th that strong social distancing measures are necessary to respond to the steep spread of COVID-19, and that comprehensive support is needed for small business owners who are once again facing difficulties.
On the same day, Yoon Ho-jung, the floor leader of the Democratic Party, said at an emergency COVID-19 party-government meeting held at the National Assembly in the afternoon, "Our primary goal at present is to curb the spread of COVID-19," adding, "We will devise immediate and effective methods to quickly block the spread."
He demanded comprehensive government support for small business owners who will suffer damage due to strengthened social distancing.
Floor leader Yoon pointed out, "They have already been pushed to the brink, and the period has been prolonged," adding, "We cannot ask small business owners to sacrifice again." He explained, "The party is working on revising the Loss Compensation Act and establishing an emergency infectious disease response system, and plans to discuss the principle of advance support and compensation for small business owners."
Floor leader Yoon emphasized, "If support can be provided as a priority, I think financial input as support for small business owners in face-to-face service industries cooperating with quarantine measures should be promptly made."
He also said that the third dose of the vaccine should be expedited along with quarantine measures.
Floor leader Yoon said, "The introduction of a vaccine national responsibility system will give the public trust and confidence in vaccines and can dramatically increase the third dose vaccination rate," adding, "Especially regarding adolescent vaccination, parents should be sufficiently persuaded and encouraged to participate with peace of mind." On the previous day, candidate Lee proposed a 'negative method' government compensation and support for vaccine side effects through an emergency COVID-19 announcement. He explained that the introduction of a vaccine national responsibility system is necessary to take responsibility for all compensation and support except in cases where there is clear evidence of no causal relationship with vaccine side effects.
Along with this, floor leader Yoon emphasized that measures should be established for care gaps and temporary unemployment to proactively respond to COVID-19.
