Samsung Biologics, Vice President Kim Yong-shin and Others Promoted to Executive Positions in 2022 (Update)

[Asia Economy Reporter Chunhee Lee] Samsung Biologics announced on the 15th that it promoted one vice president and six directors through its 2022 regular executive personnel appointments.

Regarding this personnel move, Samsung Biologics stated, "Despite an uncertain management environment, we achieved the largest performance in history," and added, "We conducted selective appointments based on strict performance principles in divisions that will drive global competitiveness and mid- to long-term growth."

Vice President Kim Yong-shin has served as the head of HR at Samsung Electronics VD Industry Division and as the head of the GES team (overall HR) at Samsung Biologics. Since last year, he has been serving as the head of the Samsung Biologics Global Support Center.

In particular, Samsung Biologics explained, "We have implemented bold generational changes including women and foreigners with expertise and innovative capabilities to secure global-level diversity, and based on this, we plan to further enhance business competitiveness." It also stated, "To foster young executives early, we integrated the executive ranks of senior managing director and vice president, simplifying the executive rank system to two levels: director and vice president."

Through this personnel appointment, two women?Kim Hee-jung, head of Plant 3 Team at the DS Center, and Jo Beth DeFreitas, head of the Quality Operation Team at the Quality Operation Center?were promoted to director. Additionally, two foreigners, Jo Beth DeFreitas and Kevin Sharp, head of the Alliance Management Team at the Global Sales Center, were also promoted to director.

Samsung Biologics plans to announce organizational restructuring and position appointments soon following this regular executive personnel appointment.
