Naver News to Remove 'AI Recommended News' on PC as Well... Revamping to Focus on Subscriptions
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] Naver has revamped the first screen of the PC version of Naver News to display news from media outlets subscribed to by users, instead of AI-recommended articles.
On the 15th, Naver announced that it has redesigned the PC news home area so that users can have the same subscription news experience on PC as they do on mobile.
First, the subscription-based news service by media outlet, which was applied in the mobile environment, will also be applied to Naver PC News Home. The media outlet sections are composed of articles selected directly by the media outlets, identical to the mobile media outlet editorial edition, and users can choose and subscribe to their preferred media outlets and view news from subscribed outlets collectively.
If a user has no subscribed media outlets, they can add them by clicking the ‘+’ button to the right of the media outlet name or by pressing the ‘Subscription Settings’ button at the top of the news page. Additionally, the subscription bar on the right side of the PC screen allows users to more easily check subscribed media outlets, reporters, and series, and the same subscription bar is provided on the right side of each individual media outlet’s homepage.
Along with the changes to the PC News Home, the Naver mobile news home, which has served as the home for the media outlet editorial edition, will be discontinued. When users access the mobile news home URL, they will be able to view one of the political, economic, or social sections randomly (with equal probability).
Just like the media outlet homepages that gathered articles from individual media outlets on mobile, users can comprehensively view major news, reporters, columns, rankings, and other news from the respective media outlets on PC as well.
The article body is also served in the same format for each media outlet on both PC and mobile. It becomes easier to navigate to articles from other sections of the same media outlet within the article body, and users can easily check the major news and ranking news of the respective media outlet.
