59 New COVID-19 Cases Confirmed Among Preschool and Middle School Students in Gwangju
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] New confirmed cases continue to occur among preschoolers and elementary school students in the Gwangju area.
According to Gwangju Metropolitan City on the 14th, a total of 59 new confirmed cases were reported the previous day, including 58 local infections and 1 imported case.
Since the first confirmed case at C Middle School in Gwangsan-gu on the 10th, a total of 27 people have been infected and entered self-quarantine. Among them, 8 tested positive in pre-release tests.
At a welfare facility in Nam-gu, 8 preschoolers and 2 family members were additionally confirmed positive. Transmission began as the child of the index case, a social worker, attended the kindergarten.
At A Nursing Hospital in Gwangsan-gu, which is under cohort isolation, one additional case was confirmed, bringing the total to 17.
Seventeen cases were related to prior confirmed cases within the region, and four were linked to other cities and provinces such as Seoul and Gangwon.
