"Active COVID-19 Vaccination for Adolescents Aged 12 and Over... Considering Overseas Trends for Children Under 5"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] The quarantine authorities announced that they are implementing vaccinations primarily for adolescents aged 12 and older, while considering vaccinations for children under 5 based on overseas trends.
On the morning of the 14th, Park Hyang, head of the Central Accident Response Headquarters' Quarantine General Team at the Ministry of Health and Welfare, appeared on TBS's "Kim Eo-jun's News Factory" and stated, "Currently, we are actively conducting vaccinations focusing on adolescents aged 12 and older, who are much more active," adding, "For those under 5 years old, we plan to consider vaccination based on overseas trends."
She continued, "For high school seniors (Grade 3), over 90% have been vaccinated, resulting in a low number of confirmed cases," and said, "The lower the vaccination rate among students below middle school level, the higher the proportion of confirmed cases."
Park also said, "Looking at the adolescent age groups, vaccination rates are about 20-30% up to middle school grades 1 to 3 and high school grade 1, with too many unvaccinated individuals," and added, "The benefits of vaccination have already been confirmed among high school grades 2 and 3."
