[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Gangwon Province is launching a hot spring development project worth 410 billion KRW in the area of San 100, Sinpyeong-ri, Toseong-myeon, Goseong-gun.
On the 14th, the province announced, "On this day, Gangwon Province, Goseong-gun, and Ijo Co., Ltd. will sign an investment agreement (MOU) at the provincial office."
The main content of the agreement is to create a hot spring-themed stay-type tourism and leisure complex where the past and present coexist, including a total of 724 rooms of Hanok hotels and Hanok resorts, a traditional market street, and modern condominiums on a site of 235,369㎡ (71,199 pyeong) by 2023.
The hot spring registration of 1,790 tons per day has been completed, and transportation, leisure, tourism, and leisure infrastructure are being established near the Sokcho IC of the Donghae Expressway.
The province and Goseong-gun expect that through investment attraction, there will be a production inducement of 189.6 billion KRW, added value of 103.2 billion KRW, 600 new jobs within the business site, and it will become a representative stay-type tourism hub in the Northern Seorak area.
They also anticipate revitalization of the local construction market, increased farm income through promotion of agricultural and livestock product consumption, and attraction of tourists.
