Imsil Mental Health Welfare Center Receives Minister of the Interior and Safety Commendation at National Assembly Suicide Prevention Awards
[Imsil=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Nosik] The Jeonbuk Imsil-gun Mental Health Welfare Center announced on the 13th that it received the Minister of the Interior and Safety Commendation in the individual category (Team Leader Hwang Kyung-ae) at the ‘2021 3rd National Assembly Suicide Prevention Awards’ ceremony held recently at the National Assembly Members' Office Building Grand Conference Room.
Hosted by the National Assembly Suicide Prevention Forum, this awards ceremony was held to discover and honor individuals who have devotedly worked and contributed in various fields related to suicide prevention, thereby contributing to the spread of a suicide prevention culture in society.
The awardees are general citizens actively engaged in volunteer activities, institutional improvements, research, education, and publicity related to suicide prevention, including community suicide prevention volunteers and activists working on legal and institutional improvements for suicide prevention.
For public officials, the award is given to outstanding officials who have dedicated themselves to formulating suicide prevention policies and implementing countermeasures.
The county contributed to reducing the suicide rate in the community through continuous efforts such as suicide prevention and life keeper training education, intensive suicide prevention publicity and campaigns, and systematic counseling and case management projects for local residents.
The Imsil-gun Mental Health Welfare Center plans to actively promote mental health and suicide prevention publicity targeting local residents, including early detection and treatment linkage for high-risk groups of suicide, to prevent depression caused by COVID-19.
County Governor Shim Min said, “We will strive to restore the mental health of local residents who feel anxiety and depression due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation and to spread a culture of respect for life.”
