Bridge Between Large Corporations and Startups... 'Startup Autobahn Korea Expo Day' Held
Announcement of Achievements by 11 Startups Conducting Technology Demonstrations with Domestic Large Corporations

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyeyoung] The Korea International Trade Association and Mercedes-Benz Korea will hold the ‘Startup Autobahn Korea Expo Day’ for two days starting from the 13th at the COEX Auditorium.
This year’s ‘Startup Autobahn Korea’ includes not only the Trade Association, Mercedes-Benz Korea, and N15, but also large corporations such as SK Telecom and LG Electronics, as well as support organizations including the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Seoul Business Agency, Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development, and Korea Electronics Technology Institute. Startup Autobahn is a global open innovation platform established by the Daimler Group, the parent company of Mercedes-Benz, in 2016 to discover promising startups and build an open innovation collaboration system.
This year, 11 promising startups in fields such as connected car commerce?which automatically recognizes vehicles and processes orders and payments at once?5G-based security solutions, and the metaverse have been conducting technology verification in collaboration with large corporations like Mercedes-Benz Korea, SKT, and LG Electronics for 100 days since September. Along with mentoring from industry experts and opportunities for investment attraction, a support fund of 10 million KRW will also be provided.
Park Junhyuk, CEO of MayAI, who participated in the technology verification, said, “Through the recommendation of the Trade Association, we were able to showcase our AI solution for visitor analysis based on closed-circuit (CC)TV footage at three Mercedes-Benz Korea showrooms,” adding, “I hope to introduce our technology to more large corporation officials and discover new business opportunities through this Expo Day.”

Park Piljae, Head of the Startup Global Support Office at the Trade Association, stated, “Open innovation can lead to cooperation between startups and large corporations in various fields and open new possibilities for each other,” and added, “Next year, we plan to expand the scale of domestic large corporate partners participating in Startup Autobahn to provide more startups with scale-up opportunities.”
