Actor Jinyoung Voices Johnny in 'Sing 2gether': "Honored to Take on My First Challenge"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Iseul] Actor Jinyoung (Jung Jin-young) is taking on his first voice acting role in the animated film 'Sing 2' (Sing 2gether).
According to his agency BB Entertainment on the 13th, Jinyoung was cast as Johnny in 'Sing 2gether' and took on the dubbing role.
'Sing 2gether' is the first entertaining movie of 2022 depicting the struggles and challenges of a crew aiming to perform on a globally recognized show stage after the auditions.
Jinyoung plays Johnny, a singer who is afraid of dancing. Johnny is a gorilla with a fantastic voice who was selected in the Moon Theater audition and recognized for his talent. Alongside Buster Moon, he heads to the big city to stand on the stage of his dreams.
In this 'Sing 2gether,' Johnny's dream of singing is blocked by the high wall of dancing, and his wandering will be portrayed.
Since Johnny's original cast was played by Taron Egerton, well known for 'Kingsman,' there is much attention on how Jinyoung will portray the 'Korean version of Johnny.'
Jinyoung said, "I enjoyed watching the first season of Sing so much that I was very honored when I was offered the role of Johnny. I was quite nervous since I had never tried animation dubbing before, but I am excited thinking of it as a new challenge. I hope many people will love Johnny created with my voice."
'Sing 2gether' director Garth Jennings praised K-Johnny Jinyoung, saying, "Jinyoung, who is a singer, producer, and actor, was perfect for the role of Johnny, who needs to be excellent in dancing, singing, and acting."
The OST sung by Jinyoung is Coldplay's song 'A Sky Full Of Stars,' which has been loved in Korea as well. Jinyoung is expected to present his own new version with explosive vocal power and tone.
The music video for 'A Sky Full Of Stars' featuring Jinyoung will be released at 6 PM today, and the song will be available on various streaming platforms starting on the 18th.
Previously, Jinyoung received praise for his wide acting spectrum and refreshing action in the movie 'The Dude in Me,' where he played both a high school student and a man in his 40s. He also worked alongside Cha Tae-hyun as a police academy student and professor in the KBS2 drama 'Police University.'
