Pfizer Vaccine Approved for Children Aged 5 to 11 in Switzerland
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] Switzerland's pharmaceutical regulatory authority approved Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine for children on the 10th (local time).
Swissmedic stated in a press release, "Clinical trial results of Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine show that it is safe and effective in the 5 to 11 age group."
The recommended dosage is 10 μg, one-third of the adult dose, with a 3-week interval between the first and second doses.
Swissmedic assessed that side effects such as pain at the injection site, fatigue, headache, and fever may occur but are less frequent than in adults. However, actual vaccination for children will proceed according to the recommendations of the Federal Vaccination Commission (FCV), it added.
