Gyeonggi-do Selects 15 Promising Environmental Companies
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province has selected 15 promising environmental companies in the province with great future growth potential and outstanding technological capabilities.
Since 2014, the province has been selecting and announcing promising companies to foster excellent small and medium-sized environmental enterprises in the province.
For this year's company selection, since September, the province conducted a first-round document evaluation, on-site inspection, and a second-round expert evaluation on a total of 18 items including business strategy, growth potential, technological capability, and development performance for the applicant companies, and finalized the companies.
The companies selected this year include 10 new companies: Purium Co., Ltd., Anitech Co., Ltd., Dawon Industry Co., Ltd., Browin Co., Ltd., Sensoronic, Woorim Bio Co., Ltd., CJK Alliance Co., Ltd., BioCera Co., Ltd., ELP, and Total Living Co., Ltd. Additionally, 5 companies were re-designated: Boguk Engineering Co., Ltd., Cheongwoo CNT Co., Ltd., Clean Air Tech Co., Ltd., Air Korea Co., Ltd., and Samgu Chemical Industry Co., Ltd.
The province will support these companies with up to 5 million KRW annually for three years from next year through 2024 for costs necessary for prototype production, patent and certification acquisition, exhibition participation, etc. Also, separate incentives such as preferential points will be provided when participating in environment-related projects conducted by affiliated public institutions.
Kim Sang-wook, CEO of CJK Alliance Co., Ltd., said, "We were fully committed to business expansion such as factory construction, and during this process, we were designated as a promising environmental small and medium enterprise." He expressed expectations, saying, "Our corporate image has improved, which will be very helpful for future collaborations with large companies."
Park Sung-nam, Director of the Environmental Bureau of the province, said, "There are about 15,000 environment-related companies in the province, but most are small and medium-sized enterprises in urgent need of support for growth." He added, "We expect the Gyeonggi Province Promising Environmental Company Support Project to be an opportunity to grow excellent environmental companies into global strong small environmental companies."

Meanwhile, through this project, the province has supported 9.6 billion KRW in project expenses to 96 promising environmental companies from 2014 to this year.
