On the 10th, the Anti-Corruption and Public Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced that it has been assigned the case filed by the civic group Committee for the Protection of the Common People’s Livelihood, which accused Deputy Prime Minister Hong and Kim Yeon-su, director of Seoul National University Hospital, of abuse of authority, obstruction of business, and violation of the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act. The police plan to conduct an investigation of the accuser next week.
On the 5th of this month, the Committee for the Protection of the Common People’s Livelihood filed a complaint with the police, claiming that “Deputy Prime Minister Hong, as a high-ranking public official, violated regulations by admitting his son under conditions where hospitalization is practically impossible unless it is an emergency.”
