Haenam-gun Secures Largest Ever National Road Fund of 324.5 Billion KRW

[Haenam＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Myeong Hyun-gwan) has secured a national and local government budget of 324.5 billion KRW for next year, signaling a green light for establishing long-term growth momentum in the region.

According to the county on the 10th, the government budget bill passed the National Assembly plenary session on the 3rd, and Haenam-gun secured a national and local government budget of 324.5 billion KRW for major pending projects.

This is the largest amount ever, increasing by nearly 140 billion KRW compared to 2017 when the 7th local government took office, giving a boost to the vigorous promotion of major regional pending projects.

In particular, budgets have been reflected for long-awaited local projects and large-scale SOC projects such as the installation of sewage treatment facilities in the Osiano Tourist Complex and the construction of the Osiano Resort Hotel, which are progressing smoothly.

Haenam-gun's large-scale national budget acquisition shows a remarkable annual increase as Governor Myeong Hyun-gwan personally visited the National Assembly and central government ministries several times to overcome poor local financial conditions since the launch of the 7th local government and persuaded the necessity of the projects.

Upon taking office, Governor Myeong said, “I plan to visit anywhere that requires the sales efforts of the governor to secure support, and I hope the governor will be actively utilized in securing national funds,” and he has directly overseen the discovery and promotion of national treasury support projects.

Accordingly, it is evaluated that the early discovery of projects through national fund acquisition project discovery meetings, active policy development, and prompt visits to ministries in line with the budget schedule have been effective.

In addition, organic cooperation was maintained with related ministries including local district National Assembly member Yoon Jae-gap and local public officials, and as a result of focusing all efforts on securing the budget, the largest national and local government budget in history was achieved.

Governor Myeong Hyun-gwan said, “Since the launch of the 7th local government, I have expressed the will that securing national funds is more important than anything else, and the result of running around has led to a good outcome of increasing national and local government funds every year,” adding, “We will continue to maintain close cooperative relationships to smoothly promote local pending projects and devote all efforts to securing national and local government funds.”
