[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] Kim Chang-ryong, Commissioner of the National Police Agency, visited Bucheon Wonmi Police Station in Gyeonggi Province on the 9th to inspect the COVID-19 quarantine site and encourage on-site police officers.
This visit was made to check the quarantine measures on the ground and the quarantine management status of frontline police stations amid rising concerns over the influx and spread of the Omicron variant.
On the day, Commissioner Kim inspected the entertainment district around Sinjung-dong Station on Subway Line 7 together with police officers from the local district unit and police crackdown team, urging efforts to ensure that quarantine rules are followed on-site through cooperation with local governments and related organizations. He also reviewed the self-quarantine management status of departments in direct contact with the public, such as the police station’s civil affairs office.
Commissioner Kim stated, "The premise of a safe return to daily life is stable public security," and ordered thorough quarantine management at each police station and extraordinary determination and efforts from individuals to prevent security gaps caused by police infections.
