The ‘H Public Art Award 2021’ is an open art contest conducted in collaboration with Hyundai Livart and Seoul International Sculpture Festa 2021, aimed at discovering talented domestic artists.
Starting with submissions in September, 12 works advanced to the finals after the first internal screening in October, and these 12 finalists were publicly exhibited for 8 days during the ‘Seoul International Sculpture Festa 2021’ event.
Marking its 10th year, the Seoul International Sculpture Festa 2021 is the largest international sculpture exhibition event in Korea, attracting over 13,000 visitors including Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon and prominent figures from politics and business.
Hyundai Construction conducted the final judging on the last day of the exhibition and selected four award-winning artists. The final judging panel included Professor Choi Tae-man from Kookmin University, Professor Park Chan-geol from Chungnam National University, artist Jeon Jun-ho, and art director Lee Dae-young, among other experts from academia and the art world.
Notably, the event provided active communication opportunities with customers by inviting the ordering parties and prospective residents of the apartments where the artworks will be installed to appreciate the works and participate in the judging process.
The works finally selected in the contest are ‘Assimilation-Bird’ by artist Kim Kyung-il, ‘Dreaming City’ by artist Kim Jae-ho, ‘Exuberance Blossom’ by artist Lee Dae-song, and ‘Miro (ME-RO)’ by the KAP team. The final award-winning works will be installed at each Hillstate site after architectural review by the relevant public offices.
