The Corporate Social Responsibility Development Index is the most authoritative and influential CSR evaluation index in China. The Chinese Academy of Social Sciences selects 300 companies in China (100 state-owned, 100 private, and 100 foreign-invested companies) based on sales, brand, and influence, and comprehensively assesses their social contribution activities, employment, employee welfare, customer satisfaction, and environmental contributions to announce the annual rankings.
Since 2016, Hyundai Motor Group has ranked first among automobile companies and second among foreign-invested companies. This year, it rose one rank from last year to third place overall among all companies.
Hyundai Motor Group was highly evaluated for expanding ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management and continuously conducting social contribution activities during the COVID-19 situation. The group established ESG evaluation standards for 67 subsidiaries operating in China and conducted ESG management status assessments and training.
In October, Hyundai Mobis, Hyundai Wia, Hyundai Steel, Hyundai Transys, and other major subsidiaries in China published social responsibility reports disclosing ESG management achievements such as environmental impact management, climate change response activities, social contribution, and compliance management activities.
