Gyeongnam Province Opens Era of 7 Trillion Won in National Funding... 478.8 Billion Won Increase from Previous Year
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Gyeongsangnam-do has opened the era of 7 trillion won in national funding for the first time in history, just one year after entering the era of 6 trillion won in national funding.
In the 2022 government budget passed by the National Assembly plenary session on the 3rd, a large number of core project budgets of Gyeongnam Province were reflected, securing 7.0425 trillion won in national funding. This is an increase of 478.8 billion won compared to this year.
By securing a large budget for national projects fully funded by the government, such as the construction of Jinhae New Port and the Namhae-Yeosu Undersea Tunnel, it is expected to greatly contribute not only to revitalizing the regional economy of Gyeongnam but also to the financial strength of Gyeongnam Province.
Additionally, projects related to the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam (Bu-Ul-Gyeong) Mega City, such as the introduction of electric trains on the Bujeon-Masan line, the establishment of a Northeast Asia smart logistics platform, and the construction and demonstration project of eco-friendly ships for collecting and processing marine floating waste, as well as projects for revitalizing the western Gyeongnam regional economy, including the construction of the Southern Inland Railway and the creation of the Hwangmaesan Green Culture Experience Zone, were included in the government budget.
They also secured preliminary feasibility study approval and startup project funds for large national projects such as the Korea-ASEAN National Garden creation.
Since last year, the province has formed a 'New Business Discovery Task Force' involving all departments, the Gyeongnam Research Institute, and Gyeongnam Technopark to focus on discovering new projects.
Since February, they have made great efforts to secure national funding by visiting central government ministries, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and the National Assembly over 400 times.
