On the 2nd, the prosecution asked the court to "sentence her to one year in prison" at the sentencing trial of Choi held under the presiding of Judge Park Se-hwang of the Criminal Division 8 at Uijeongbu District Court.
Earlier, Choi was prosecuted on charges of forging a bank account balance certificate to make it appear as if 34.7 billion won was deposited in a bank during the purchase of land in Dochon-dong, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi Province in 2013. She is also accused of contracting and registering the land under the names of others, including the son-in-law of her former business partner Ahn Mo.
Choi's side claims that the forgery of the balance certificate was not intentional and that she agreed because Ahn said he would use the information obtained from the Korea Asset Management Corporation.
