'The New Mercedes-Benz CLS' Facelift Launched in Korea... Starting from 93.7 Million KRW
Cumulative Sales of 450,000 Units... Korea Ranks Second After China in CLS Sales
[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Mercedes-Benz Korea announced on the 1st that it will reveal the domestic launch lineup and prices of 'The New Mercedes-Benz CLS,' a facelift model of the luxury 4-door coupe CLS.
The CLS pioneered the new genre of 4-door coupes and has sold more than 450,000 units worldwide since the launch of the first-generation model in 2004. Notably, South Korea is the second-largest market for the CLS after China.
The newly unveiled The New CLS is a facelift of the third-generation CLS, first introduced in April. The lineup consists of ▲The New CLS 300d 4MATIC ▲The New CLS 450 4MATIC ▲The New Mercedes-AMG CLS 53 4MATIC+, which will be launched sequentially in the domestic market.
At the front, the new radiator grille design features Mercedes-Benz’s distinctive three-dimensional star pattern and a high-gloss black Louvre. In particular, both The New CLS 300d 4MATIC and The New CLS 450 4MATIC come with the AMG Line, while the high-performance model The New AMG CLS 53 4MATIC+ is equipped with various AMG elements such as the AMG Exterior Carbon Fiber Package II and the AMG-exclusive Panamericana grille.
Inside, the next-generation intelligent steering wheel with capacitive Hands-Off detection is applied, featuring a 2-zone sensor pad that recognizes the driver’s touch, enabling more intuitive and convenient operation of vehicle functions while driving. Additionally, the range of leather seat application has been expanded, and new trim and color combinations have been added, making the interior more luxurious and diverse.
Furthermore, the diesel lineup of the facelift model, The New CLS 300d 4MATIC, is the first domestic CLS model to be equipped with a 48-volt electrical system and a second-generation integrated starter-generator (ISG) paired with a 4-cylinder diesel engine (OM 654 M). The diesel engine delivers 195 kW of power and 550 Nm of torque, with an additional 15 kW of power and 200 Nm of torque provided by electric boost to the internal combustion engine.
In addition, The New CLS comes standard with various safety features, including the Driving Assistance Package (DAP), a driving assistance system that appropriately applies speed adjustment, steering control, and distance maintenance according to the situation, and the Pre-Safe® occupant protection system.
