[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyemin] The number of confirmed cases of the new COVID-19 variant Omicron is increasing in Scotland, UK.
Humza Yousaf, Scotland's Health Secretary, stated in an interview with the BBC on the 30th (local time) that three additional infection cases have been confirmed. This brings the total number of Omicron cases in the UK to 14.
Local transmission is also suspected in Scotland. Secretary Yousaf said, "There is no indication that (the confirmed cases) came from the rugby tournament last month, which South Africa participated in, or the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26)," adding, "an investigation is underway."
