'Stalking Murder' Kim Byung-chan Assigned to Criminal Division of Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office

On the 29th, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office announced that the case of Kim, who was sent for prosecution in custody on charges including retaliatory murder under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes, was assigned to the Criminal Division 3 (Chief Prosecutor Seo Jeong-sik). The Criminal Division 3 is a department specializing in violent crimes.
Kim was arrested on the 22nd on suspicion of stabbing and killing a woman in her 30s, Ms. A, who lived in an officetel in Jung-gu, Seoul, on the 19th. Ms. A, who was reportedly a former lover of Kim, had previously reported Kim four times for stalking crimes and was under police protection.
The case of the stepmother, Ms. Lee (33), who was sent for prosecution in custody on charges of child abuse resulting in death for beating her three-year-old stepson to death, was assigned to the Women and Children Crime Investigation Division (Chief Prosecutor Kim Won-ho).
