Trade Association Holds 'Cosmetics Export Expansion Strategy Seminar' Amid Prolonged COVID-19 Pandemic

At the seminar held on the 29th at COEX in Samseong-dong, experts shared various advice and opinions on changes in the global cosmetics market due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, forecasts for next year, and sector-specific response strategies such as overseas marketing and obtaining international certifications.
Shin Hye-young, a senior researcher at the Korea Cosmetic Industry Institute, stated, “Due to the pandemic, overseas consumers’ demand for eco-friendly cosmetics is increasing,” adding, “It is necessary to strengthen contactless distribution channels in preparation for the growth of the beauty and healthcare e-commerce market.”
Kim Ju-yeon, head of the China Inspection and Quarantine Science Research Institute (CAIQ), who presented on the overview and procedures of global cosmetics certification, said, “A precise understanding of certification systems and labeling regulations by country and region must precede full-scale export efforts,” and introduced precautions for obtaining cosmetics certifications in major regions and countries worldwide.
Seo Yoo-chun, a team leader at KITA who presented on online overseas marketing strategies, explained, “Effective buyer searches and eye-catching item postings determine marketing success,” and added, “By effectively utilizing the trade mediation platforms operated by the association, such as tradeKorea and Kmall24, companies can open channels to valid buyers and transactions.”

Joo Dong-pil, head of the Member Services Office at KITA, said, “We will support our companies’ effective overseas market development by holding a series of special lectures not only on cosmetics but also on various issues and industries faced by member companies.”
