Sauna Mirror Behind Illegal Prostitution Massage Parlor... Police Arrest Gang for 'Illegal Business'
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] A group that secretly operated a massage parlor facilitating prostitution hidden behind a sauna mirror wall was caught by the police.
According to the police on the 29th, the Suseo Police Station in Seoul arrested two business operators and one male employee on the morning of the 24th around 1 a.m. at a sauna in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, on charges of operating an illegal prostitution business (violation of the Act on the Punishment of Acts of Arranging Sexual Traffic, etc.).
Ten women were also caught on charges of violating the Medical Service Act. Under the current Medical Service Act, only visually impaired persons are recognized as qualified massage therapists allowed to perform massages for profit.
The establishment disguised a secret door behind a wall inside the male sauna that was camouflaged as a mirror and could only be opened or closed with a remote control, making it impossible to see the business from outside. Additionally, it was confirmed that they operated by employing women in 12 rooms behind the secret door to facilitate prostitution.
