Seoul Reports 1,676 New COVID-19 Cases... Daily Deaths Reach Record High of 26
[Asia Economy Reporter Park So-yeon] On Saturday the 27th, the number of new COVID-19 cases in Seoul was recorded at 1,676. This marks the highest number for a Saturday in a week.
According to the Central Disease Control Headquarters (CDCH) on the 28th, of the new cases, 1,668 were domestic infections and 8 were imported cases.
The number of deaths increased by 26 in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 1,072. This is the highest number of deaths recorded in a single day. The previous highest was 21 deaths, recorded on the 23rd, 25th, and 26th.
The daily number of cases in Seoul rose sharply from 400-700 in the last week of last month to 1,004 on the 2nd of this month. Since then, the numbers have escalated to 1,436 on the 16th, 1,734 on the 23rd, 1,760 on the 24th, and 1,888 on the 26th. This rapid deterioration has occurred in less than a month since the phased recovery to normal life (With COVID-19) was implemented.
Additionally, since the 13th of this month, the daily record for each day of the week has been broken for 15 consecutive days, indicating that the spread is intensifying.
