On the same day, Yoon met with reporters at the Seoul Arts Center in Seocho-gu, Seoul, and responded to the question, "How do you view Ms. Lee's proxy apology for events that occurred during the administration, excluding the May 18 incident?" by saying the above.
When asked, "Can we understand that Kim Byung-joon, the standing election committee chairman, is the top leader of the campaign?" he said, "I think terms like 'top one' or 'top two' don't quite fit with a democratic election campaign method," and emphasized, "The election committee is the headquarters of the campaign. Decision-making related to the election is done through a consultative body."
He added, "The same goes for me. Being a candidate doesn't mean I do whatever I want," and "Once the basic direction on major issues is decided, the party and the election organization must move accordingly."
