Volkswagen's Cost-Effective Compact SUV T-Roc 'Smooth Sailing'
Golf and Arteon Launch Next Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Volkswagen's compact sports utility vehicle (SUV), the 2022 T-Roc, is making its presence felt with an outstanding 'cost-effectiveness (price-to-performance ratio)' in the 20 million KRW range.
According to Volkswagen on the 29th, since its first domestic launch in January, the T-Roc has been steadily climbing sales charts and is navigating smoothly in the imported compact SUV market. Especially with the release of the facelifted 2022 T-Roc earlier this month, this trend continues.
The 2022 T-Roc features a stylish 'two-tone design' with six color options and a black roof, while black coloring is also applied to the side mirrors to complete a unified design. Not only in design, but it also applies the next-generation EA288 evo engine with innovative 'Twin Dosing Technology' at its core. This engine reduces nitrogen oxides (NOx) by about 80% compared to the previous generation, meeting the Euro 6d standard, the strictest emission regulation currently in place. Additionally, the combination of the new 2.0 TDI engine and 7-speed DSG transmission delivers a maximum output of 150 horsepower and maximum torque of 36.7 kg·m. The combined fuel efficiency has also improved to 16.1 km/ℓ compared to the previous model.
It also boasts price competitiveness. The 2022 Style model is priced at 32,445,000 KRW, the Premium model at 36,388,000 KRW, and the Prestige model at 38,359,000 KRW, up to 3.54 million KRW cheaper than the previous model. When using the Volkswagen Financial Services program, the Style model can be purchased starting from the 29,480,000 KRW range.
Meanwhile, Volkswagen Korea plans to launch the iconic 8th generation new Golf and the facelifted Arteon model in January next year. The Golf, a global bestseller with over 35 million units sold since 1974, has secured a strong fan base domestically since its first release in 2005. The Arteon also secured a loyal customer base when it was launched in 2018, being praised as 'the most beautiful sedan in Volkswagen's history.'
