Statistics Korea to Hold 'Joint Workshop on Health Classification Development' at COEX on the 27th
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Son Seon-hee] On the 26th, Statistics Korea announced that it will hold the "7th Joint Workshop on Health Classification Development" on the 27th at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
This workshop was organized to bring together about 100 health classification experts and medical professionals to share research results for the development and revision of health classifications and to seek improvement measures.
In the morning session, Seo Kyung, co-chairman of the Korea Standard Classification of Diseases and Causes of Death (KCD), will give a special lecture sharing information about the "11th International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11)" and introduce considerations for its domestic adoption. In the afternoon session, the main research results for this year's health classification development and revision will be explained, followed by discussions on future improvement directions.

Kang Chang-ik, Director of the Statistics Policy Bureau, said in his opening remarks, "For the development and improvement of health classifications, cooperation and support from related organizations such as medical institutions, medical professionals, and the Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service are necessary." He added, "To successfully introduce the 11th International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11), revised for the first time in over 30 years, domestically and to minimize confusion among users, sufficient research and review are required."
