Seoul Sewer Science Museum Renovates Children's Exhibition Room... Experience Sewage Treatment Process
Experience the Sewage Treatment Process Hands-On as a "Hasudo Explorer"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Jungnang Water Reclamation Center's Seoul Sewer Science Museum will begin operating the permanent children's exhibition "Thank You, Sewer!" starting next month on the 1st.
This exhibition is composed of exploration-style play content that children love the most, and has been newly revamped to suit children's perspectives so they can fully experience how sewage goes through a process to become clean again.
This renovation was promoted to resolve the ongoing issue of the lack of experiential exhibits for toddlers and lower-grade elementary students. Child visitors can experience the importance of sewers through various interactive exhibits that they can see, hear, and touch, realizing the value of water and the importance of water conservation.
Upon entering the second-floor children's exhibition space "Thank You, Sewer," child visitors become "Sewer Explorers" and can sequentially explore five areas: ▲Water Cycle ▲Sewer, Where Are You? ▲How Does Sewage Get Clean? ▲To the River, To the Sea ▲Let's Play Sewer!

The exhibition is free to visit and operates four times a day. Due to the limited number of visitors allowed for the experiential exhibition, advance reservations are required. Han Yu-seok, Director of the Water Circulation Safety Bureau, explained, "The renovation of the Seoul Sewer Science Museum's children's exhibition room was planned to lower the psychological barriers to the unfamiliar exhibition keywords 'sewage' and 'sewer' for younger age visitors."
