Jeongeup-si Agricultural Technology Center Operates 'Healing Agriculture Program for Office Workers'
[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] The Jeongeup Agricultural Technology Center in Jeonbuk announced on the 25th that it operated the ‘Visiting Office Worker Agro-Healing Program’ to heal the tired body and mind of office workers due to COVID-19.
Agro-Healing refers to industrial activities that promote human psychological, social, cognitive, and physical health by utilizing agricultural and rural resources, related farming experience activities, and their outputs.
Recently, as many people exhausted from work and life visit rural areas and the mental and psychological healing effects have been verified, its importance has been highlighted.
This program was conducted over a total of 12 sessions from the 19th of last month to the 25th of this month, targeting 21 office workers interested in rural experiences and agro-healing.
The educational content consisted of theoretical classes such as understanding agro-healing, practical training on healing techniques using plants, and tours of the Agricultural Technology Center’s demonstration test fields and excellent healing farms.
The trainees relieved stress from work by practicing various agro-healing activities using plants, such as hydroponics, herb cuttings, and making wreaths using preserved flowers.
They also shared the value of agro-healing through theoretical classes related to agro-healing.
One trainee who participated in the education said, “There were not many opportunities to relieve stress from office life, but through this education, I was able to relieve stress and have a chance to realize again the effects of agro-healing, which was good.”
A representative of the Jeongeup Agricultural Technology Center said, “In daily life exhausted by COVID-19, agro-healing is gaining attention as it can relieve stress and provide emotional stability,” and added, “We plan to expand and distribute agro-healing services in response to the increasing social demand for agro-healing.”
