Gwangju Buk-gu, Comprehensive Measures to Prevent Wildfires 추진
Designated Wildfire Prevention Period Until the 15th of Next Month... Operation of Comprehensive Countermeasures Headquarters, Patrol Mobile Teams, and Specialized Wildfire Prevention and Suppression Units
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Buk-gu, Gwangju City (District Mayor Moon In) announced on the 25th that it has designated the period until the 15th of next month as the wildfire caution period and will implement a ‘Comprehensive Wildfire Prevention Plan’ to minimize wildfire damage.
This comprehensive plan was prepared to focus on wildfire prevention through pre-inspections and promotional activities, as the risk of wildfires increases due to clear and dry weather in autumn and winter.
Accordingly, Buk-gu plans to intensively manage wildfire-prone areas through the operation of the Comprehensive Wildfire Prevention Headquarters, patrol task forces, specialized wildfire prevention and suppression teams, and cooperation with related organizations.
First, during the wildfire caution period, the Comprehensive Headquarters will be operated to inspect suppression equipment, promptly report wildfire occurrences, and maintain on-site suppression command systems.
Three patrol task forces and specialized wildfire prevention and suppression personnel will be concentrated in key wildfire management areas to conduct initial suppression tasks such as wildfire monitoring, suppression equipment management, and rapid reporting.
Emergency contact networks with related organizations such as the police, fire stations, and military units will be operated at all times to maintain an efficient wildfire prevention system.
While conducting wildfire caution campaigns at trail entrances, various media such as the district website, banners, and the wildfire reporting app (Smart Forest Disaster) will be used to actively encourage resident participation in wildfire prevention publicity and reporting.
District Mayor Moon In said, “We will cherish the safety of residents and preserve the region’s forest resources through proactive prevention activities and active publicity.”
