Coupang Expands Distribution of Latest Cold-Weather Equipment and Heating Supplies at Logistics Centers
Expansion of Cold Protection Systems such as Speed Doors and Air Curtains
Placement of Fire-Safe Heating Devices in All Spaces
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheolhyun] Coupang announced on the 25th that it will significantly expand the provision of the latest cold-weather facilities and heating and warming supplies at logistics centers nationwide.
Coupang plans to install about 300 "Speed Doors" that block cold air from outside at logistics centers nationwide by the end of the year. In locations where installing "Speed Doors" is not possible due to building structure, about 100 "Air Curtains" that blow strong wind to prevent the inflow of cold outside air will be installed. Speed Doors and Air Curtains are expected to minimize workers' direct exposure to cold air and wind, maximize the effectiveness of heating devices, and increase the perceived temperature.
Additionally, Coupang has placed safe heating devices without fire hazards in each logistics center workspace. In main work areas where tasks are performed at fixed locations, ceiling-type heaters that safely radiate heat evenly from the ceiling have been installed, and additional rest areas have been added throughout the sites. Heating facilities for employees working outdoors and heated waiting rooms for external cargo vehicle drivers to rest warmly have also been separately prepared.
Furthermore, to maintain warmth in the workspaces for a long time, more than 6,800 customized heating devices such as radiators, warm air blowers, mini warm air blowers, and electric seat cushions are being placed throughout the logistics centers nationwide according to the workspace. Personal warming and safety supplies are also provided free of charge to all employees. Depending on indoor or outdoor work and job characteristics at each logistics center, essential items such as cold-weather clothing, gloves, and boots, as well as various warming and safety supplies including heated vests, lightweight padding jackets, neck warmers, cold-weather face masks, earmuffs, and heat packs are provided free of charge.
