The city was selected for the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's national subsidy project next year and secured a total project cost of 950 million KRW, including 475 million KRW in national funds.
The city plans to install the rapid vehicle flood risk alert system in four parking lots located in Okcheon and Dongcheon in the first half of next year.
Until now, when there was a flood risk, managers had difficulty responding quickly as they had to directly check the contact information of parked vehicles on-site and guide vehicle evacuation.
For example, in August 2014, 15 vehicles parked in the Okcheon parking lot were flooded due to heavy rainfall of 60mm per hour.
Once the project is completed, vehicle entry into the parking lots will be controlled during heavy rain, and for parked vehicles, license plates will be recognized and evacuation request text messages will be automatically sent to owners linked to the compulsory insurance database.
