National Police Agency and Samsung Electronics to Develop 'AI-Based' Security Technology for Telecommunication Financial Fraud
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] On the afternoon of the 24th, the National Police Agency and Samsung Electronics signed a business agreement at the National Police Agency building in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, to eradicate telecommunication financial fraud.
Through this agreement, the National Police Agency and Samsung Electronics have agreed to join forces in developing technologies to prevent telecommunication financial fraud such as voice phishing. The National Police Agency will provide the latest crime analysis data obtained from actual telecommunication financial fraud cases, and Samsung Electronics will develop security technologies including AI-based telecommunication financial fraud detection based on this data.
Kim Chang-ryong, Commissioner of the National Police Agency, stated, "This collaboration with Samsung Electronics is a model case of 'public-private cooperation scientific policing,' where the police and a global company with advanced technology, Samsung Electronics, have joined hands to prevent telecommunication financial fraud damage." He added, "I express my gratitude for Samsung Electronics' active cooperation and will continue to expand public-private cooperation scientific policing to prevent crime damage."
