Samsung Develops AI Technology Using Voice Phishing Data Provided by the National Police Agency

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hye-young] Samsung Electronics and the National Police Agency have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to develop security technology for preventing voice phishing crimes.
Kim Chang-ryong, Commissioner of the National Police Agency, and Choi Yoon-ho, President of Samsung Electronics' Management Support Office, signed the "MOU for Eradicating Telecommunication Financial Fraud" on the 24th at the National Police Agency in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul. Considering that voice phishing methods are becoming increasingly sophisticated and the urgency of establishing preventive measures, both parties agreed to collaborate on related technology research.
Under this MOU, the National Police Agency will provide Samsung Electronics with the latest crime analysis data obtained from actual voice phishing cases. Samsung Electronics plans to utilize this data to develop security technologies such as AI-based voice phishing detection.
Commissioner Kim stated, "This collaboration with Samsung Electronics is a model case of 'public-private collaborative scientific policing,' where the police and a global company with advanced technology, Samsung Electronics, join forces to prevent telecommunication financial fraud damage. I express my gratitude for Samsung Electronics' active cooperation and will continue to expand public-private collaborative scientific policing to prevent crime damage."
