BTS Nominated for 'Grammy Awards' for Second Consecutive Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dong-hyun] The group BTS has been nominated again for the prestigious American music awards, the 'GRAMMY AWARDS,' following last year.
On the 23rd (local time), the Grammy Awards announced the list of nominees for the '2022 Grammy Awards' across 86 categories through a live stream on their official website. The nominees were selected by members of the Recording Academy, an association of music industry professionals, based on music released between September 2020 and September 2021.
BTS was nominated in the 'Best Pop Duo/Group Performance' category for their May release 'Butter' at the '2022 Grammy Awards.' This marks a consecutive two-year achievement following their nomination in the same category for 'Dynamite' at the '2021 Grammy Awards,' making them the first Korean pop artists to receive such recognition. Additionally, BTS served as presenters for the 'Alternative Music Album' category at the '2022 Grammy Awards.'
Previously, BTS set a new milestone in popular music history by not only being nominated for the first time at the '2021 Grammy Awards' but also performing solo. At the '2020 Grammy Awards,' they performed a joint stage with rapper Lil Nas X.
With this, BTS has demonstrated their global influence by being nominated at the three major American music award shows this year: the Billboard Music Awards, the American Music Awards, and the Grammy Awards.
At the '2021 American Music Awards' held on the 21st, BTS swept three categories including the grand prize 'Artist of the Year,' 'Favorite Pop Song (Butter),' and 'Favorite Pop Duo/Group.' At the '2021 Billboard Music Awards,' they won all four categories they were nominated for: 'Top Selling Song,' 'Top Song Sales Artist,' 'Top Duo/Group,' and 'Top Social Artist.'
