[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dobong-gu (Mayor Lee Dong-jin) held an unveiling ceremony for the ‘Love Temperature Tower’ in the lobby of Dobong-gu Office on the 23rd and will conduct a focused fundraising campaign for the ‘2022 Hope Ondol Warm Winter’ for three months until February 14, 2022.
The Hope Ondol Warm Winter project is an initiative that supports low-income neighbors and those in welfare blind spots within the community every year through cooperation between Seoul City and the Seoul Social Welfare Community Chest, helping vulnerable neighbors to spend a stable winter.
The unveiling ceremony was attended by the chairperson of the Dong Community Security Council and local residents. On this day, a plaque of appreciation was presented to Kim Yong-chu, president of the Dobong-gu Social Welfare Council, who is the first donor to the ‘Warm Winter Fund’ every year. Additionally, appointment certificates were awarded to the ‘2022 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Promotion Supporters,’ a group of 135 members including honorary social welfare officers, to promote voluntary fundraising campaigns.
Last year, Dobong-gu raised 290 million KRW in donations filled with warm hearts from various parts of the region. This year, aiming for 350 million KRW, fundraising will continue for three months from November 15 to February 14, 2022, in cooperation with the Seoul Community Chest. The collected funds will be used for living expenses, medical expenses, housing costs, and more for neighbors in need within the community.
To prevent COVID-19, the district has established and operates a system that allows donations via smartphone QR code scanning. The QR code can be found on Dobong-gu’s official SNS.
Individuals, groups, or companies wishing to donate money or goods can inquire at the Dobong-gu Welfare Policy Division or the local community service center. Donors can also directly deposit donations into the designated account and submit a donation receipt to the community service center.
Mayor Lee Dong-jin of Dobong-gu said, “The Hope Ondol Warm Winter campaign allows anyone, including individuals, groups, companies, and schools, to participate in donations. I ask many people to join so that we can deliver warm energy to neighbors struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.”
Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Sung-soo) announced on the 24th that it will actively promote the ‘2022 Hope Ondol Warm Winter’ fundraising campaign for three months until February 14 next year.
The ‘Hope Ondol Warm Winter’ is a representative winter neighbor-helping project conducted annually by the district and the Social Welfare Community Chest to assist vulnerable groups.
According to the district, despite the local economy shrinking due to COVID-19 last year, Songpa-gu collected donations and goods worth 2.46 billion KRW. Thanks to the collective efforts of companies, organizations, and residents, about 65,000 low-income households and 205 welfare facilities were supported.
This year, the district will again launch a fundraising campaign to make it easy for anyone to participate in the ‘Hope Ondol Warm Winter.’
First, notices will be delivered to local businesses, companies, and organizations, and a ‘Love Temperature Tower’ will be installed in the lobby of the district office to encourage visitors to participate.
Individuals, groups, and companies wishing to participate in the ‘Hope Ondol Warm Winter’ can apply through the Songpa-gu Welfare Policy Division or the local community service center. Donations can be deposited into the designated Songpa-gu account. Also, by scanning QR codes posted at various fundraising points, donors can conveniently contribute using credit cards, bank transfers, or card points.
The donations and goods collected over three months will be used to support vulnerable households worried about living expenses, including elderly living alone, disabled people, and single-parent families, as well as private welfare facilities in the region. In particular, the district plans to identify and provide focused support to welfare blind spots that are difficult to receive institutional support.
Mayor Park Sung-soo of Songpa-gu said, “I ask for active participation in the ‘Hope Ondol Warm Winter’ fundraising so that everyone can spend a warm winter without any neighbors being left out. We will continue to strengthen the welfare safety net through public-private cooperation to create a happy city, Songpa.”
A fundraising campaign is underway to help low-income residents in Jung-gu, Seoul, have a warm winter.
Jung-gu (Mayor Seo Yang-ho) announced on the 24th that it will launch the ‘2022 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Project’ to support vulnerable groups. The project aims to raise a total of 1.5 billion KRW over three months until February 14 next year.
The raised funds will be delivered to about 5,000 households, approximately 7,000 people, including elderly living alone, disabled families, and single-parent families who are basic livelihood security recipients or near-poverty class in the region, and will be used for emergency living expenses and medical costs.
Those wishing to donate can deposit into the dedicated Jung-gu account and submit a donation receipt to the Jung-gu Welfare Support Division. Non-face-to-face donations, which started last year, are also possible. This method involves scanning a QR code and donating through a mobile payment window. Additionally, residents wishing to donate goods can contact their local community service center or the Jung-gu Welfare Support Division.
This year, the International Lions Club District 354-A donated 185 electric blankets and quilts each to vulnerable groups, and the Jung-gu Food Market Bank donated a truck, marking the start of sharing this winter.
Mayor Seo Yang-ho of Jung-gu said, “One of the recipients last year expressed deep gratitude and some regret, saying, ‘Everyone must be having a hard time due to COVID-19...’ As this fundraising is held during difficult times, the warm hearts of donors are being conveyed even more,” encouraging participation.
The Hope Ondol Warm Winter project has been a fundraising movement conducted since 2001 through cooperation between the public and private sectors, led by the Seoul Social Welfare Community Chest, with participation from districts, residents, organizations, and companies.
The warm hands of compassion for neighbors in need continue.
Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Noh Hyun-song) is promoting the ‘Donation Sharing Bucket Challenge Project’ for three months until February 14 next year to spread a culture of giving in the community.
The district has been conducting the ‘Warm Winter Project’ annually to help low-income vulnerable residents spend a warm winter.
Through various events such as special fundraising broadcasts, the district has successfully encouraged active participation from residents. However, due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation since last year, it has been difficult to hold fundraising events that gather many people.
Therefore, the district prepared the ‘Donation Sharing Bucket Challenge Project’ to ensure that the warm donation atmosphere in the community is not dampened by COVID-19. This project is a relay donation format where donors recommend and connect to the next donor. The purpose is to continuously extend warm hands to neighbors in need during the project period.
Starting with the first donor recommended by each dong (neighborhood), the donation sharing bucket challenge will continue for three months. Donors write hopeful messages on the bucket challenge plaques installed at each community service center, attach them, and donate cash or goods. Then, they recommend the next donor.
The district plans to spread the positive influence of donors in the community by taking relay participation certification photos with the bucket challenge plaques (with donors’ consent) and posting them on the community service center websites.
Additionally, various promotional activities such as non-face-to-face promotion through online channels like SNS and YouTube will be conducted to encourage active participation from residents.
The funds and goods raised through this project will be used to help vulnerable neighbors such as social welfare facilities, basic livelihood security recipients, near-poverty class, elderly living alone, and disabled households in the region through the Seoul Social Welfare Community Chest.
Mayor Noh Hyun-song of Gangseo-gu said, “Due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation, vulnerable residents are going through even harder times. I ask for residents’ great interest and active participation so that neighbors in need can spend a warmer winter.”
