[Gangjin＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-su] On the 17th, the Gangjin County Public Health Center in Jeollanam-do held the 4th session of the self-help group for home-based cancer patients, targeting 20 home-based cancer patients and their families at the health center.

According to the county health center on the 23rd, the self-help group program is held four times quarterly, providing a place for home-based cancer patients and their families to share experiences and information and promote mental and physical stability.

This program operates emotional exchanges among cancer patients, art psychotherapy linked with the Gwangju-Jeonnam Regional Cancer Survivors Integrated Support Center, and the Daniel exercise therapy program.

The Daniel exercise helps improve prognosis and survival rates of cancer survivors and consists of stretching and muscle exercises. In particular, Jang Kwang-oh, head of physical therapy at Hwasun Jeonnam National University Hospital, participated as an instructor, enhancing participants' satisfaction by providing tailored exercise therapy education such as Daniel exercise in an easy-to-understand manner.

Seo Hyun-mi, director of the health center, said, “We will actively support forming various self-help groups to share cancer overcoming cases so that the participants can enjoy a healthier and happier life.”

Meanwhile, Gangjin County currently registers and manages 288 cancer patients and supports various projects for cancer patient health management, such as 1:1 home visit health care and medical expense support for home-based cancer patients.
