KOTRA Hosts 'MDB Project Plaza'... "Three Days Event"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] KOTRA announced that it will hold the 'Multilateral Development Bank (MDB) Project Plaza' for three days starting from the 23rd at the JW Marriott Hotel in Seoul.
Held in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, this event aims to introduce MDB policies for global climate change response, support domestic companies in establishing response strategies, and expand domestic companies' orders for promising projects promoted by MDBs.
On the day, the MDB Project Forum will be held. The MDB Forum will be held under the theme of 'The Role of Multilateral Development Banks in Global Climate Change Response.' Wang Hyung-geun, Manager of the Green Growth Fund at the World Bank (WB), will introduce the WB's climate change response strategy and the utilization plan of the Korea Green Growth Trust Fund (KGGTF), and Susan Yeranson, Infrastructure Director at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), will share EBRD's green economic transition strategy to achieve the Paris Agreement goals. In addition, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) will also present on climate-related policies.
On the same day, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) invited domestic companies to a roundtable where CABEI's Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and the Korea Trust Fund manager will discuss CABEI's role in carbon neutrality and the utilization plan of the Korea Trust Fund with domestic companies.
The project consultation meeting held from the 23rd to the 25th will involve consultations between domestic companies in engineering and construction sectors and overseas clients for 20 projects in transportation infrastructure, energy, and environment fields. Among these consultation projects, projects worth a total of $4.5 billion ordered by the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority, Water Supply and Sewerage Authority, and Railway Authority are expected to have high potential for orders from our companies in the future.
Yoo Jung-yeol, President of KOTRA, said, "Projects promoted by multilateral development banks have high transparency and stability, making them promising for our companies' advancement," and added, "We will actively support our companies' orders for MDB climate change-related projects, which are expected to expand with global carbon neutrality."
