Haenam-gun, Only Institution Nationwide Awarded for Informatization Village Operation Evaluation

Bukpyeong Kimchi Village and Ttangkkeut Songho Village Also Selected as Excellent Villages

[Haenam＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do, was the only organization nationwide to be selected in the 2020 Informatization Village Operation Activation Evaluation hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, receiving a commendation from the Minister of the Interior and Safety.

According to the county on the 22nd, Bukpyeong Kimchi Village and Ttangkkeut Songho Village were selected as excellent villages in the informatization village operation evaluation, sweeping the village awards.

In particular, Ttangkkeut Songho Village was also selected as a leading village, which is chosen from the top 10% among villages within 20% of the previous year, receiving outstanding recognition nationwide.

This evaluation was conducted based on nine indicators including the activation of village operation committees, targeting 280 informatization villages nationwide, and Haenam-gun was the only organization to receive an institutional commendation.

Since being designated as an informatization village in 2008, Ttangkkeut Songho Informatization Village has continuously grown by operating various experiential events such as selling specialties like abalone, seaweed, and anchovies, mudflat experiences, and natural dyeing.

Donghae Village was designated as a kimchi informatization village in 2007 and operates a joint workshop, commercializing aged kimchi as a resident income project. It has also developed differentiated experiential tourism such as kimchi-making experiences, water play areas, and mudflat experiences, establishing itself as a successful village case.

Informatization villages are designated and operated by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to reduce the information gap in information-deprived areas and increase residents' income. According to the operation evaluation grade, two informatization villages in Haenam-gun are expected to receive benefits such as increased subsidies next year.

County Governor Myung Hyun-gwan said, “I congratulate the achievements made through the united efforts of village members, and we will spare no support to ensure that the activation of specialty product sales and experiences leads to actual income generation for village residents.”
