[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] The police have requested an arrest warrant for a woman in her 30s accused of beating her stepson to death.
According to the police on the 22nd, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency has applied for an arrest warrant for Lee (33), who is charged with child abuse resulting in death under the Child Abuse Punishment Act.
Lee is suspected of beating her 3-year-old stepson to death at her home in Cheonho-dong, Gangdong-gu on the 20th of this month, claiming that the child "would not listen." Bruises and abrasions were found on the victim's body during the investigation.
The victim was taken to the hospital after the biological father reported that "the child was not breathing," but died during treatment. The police believe Lee was intoxicated at the time of the incident, considering the empty liquor bottles found in the house.
