President Moon: Efforts Needed to Expand Public Healthcare for Infectious Disease Preparedness
2021 Presidential Dialogue with the People, Returning to Daily Life... Minister of Health and Welfare "Public Medical Centers to be Established by Region"
[Asia Economy Reporters Ryu Jeong-min and Lee Ji-eun] On the 21st, President Moon Jae-in, during the live broadcast of 'Dialogue with the President and the People, Back to Daily Life' on KBS, responded to a question about the establishment of a public medical center in Ansan, Gyeonggi-do, stating, "Efforts to expand public healthcare are necessary to prepare for another infectious disease."
President Moon added, "We still lack sufficient public healthcare. Since public medical centers are installed by regional hubs, many basic local governments do not have them. Ansan is a large city with a big population." Then, President Moon requested a response from Minister of Health and Welfare Kwon Deok-cheol.

Minister Kwon Deok-cheol said, "The government supports the expansion of public medical centers. In the case of Seongnam Medical Center, it was established by the local government. Ansan has a university hospital, and public medical centers are important during infectious disease crises, so we plan to install them by region in the public healthcare plan. We will work hard to support this."
