20s Given Probation for Hitting Police Officer Who Told Them to "Stop" During Second Drunk Driving Incident
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daehyun] A man in his 20s who pushed police officers responding to a report with his car while driving under the influence for the second time was sentenced to a suspended prison term.
According to the legal community on the 20th, Judge Shin Hyukjae of the Criminal Division 4 at the Seoul Central District Court recently sentenced A (28, male), who was indicted on charges of obstruction of official duties and violation of the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving), to one year in prison with a two-year suspension. He was also ordered to perform 160 hours of community service.
Earlier, A was brought to trial for driving a van under the influence with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.116% (license cancellation level) on a road in Busan around 8:30 p.m. on May 20.
He is also accused of pushing and assaulting police officers who arrived in response to a 112 emergency call and requested him to stop his vehicle.
It was also found that A had a prior record of being fined for drunk driving four years ago.

The court stated, "Considering the possibility of causing casualties, the guilt is not light. However, the defendant admitted to each offense in this case, and the injured police officer who reached a settlement with the defendant has requested leniency."
